Interested in chemical peels? You’ve come to the right place. Our top aesthetic clinic delivers exceptional chemical peel treatments to clients in and around the York area. Today, we’re sharing more about what they are, how they work and what we offer.

What are chemical peels?

kind of advanced skincare that can be tailored to you and your skin. We use the Obagi brand of facial peels, known in the industry for their efficacy and for treating concerns such as ageing, acne scarring and dull complexion.

How do chemical peels work?

Facial peels strip back the outermost layers of the skin to deeply penetrate and renew from within. They can stimulate tissue growth and kickstart skin protein production (you may have heard of collagen and elastin, two of these, before – they’re responsible for the skin’s texture).

What results can I expect?

Depending on your concerns and skin type, you could see:

  • Clearer, brighter skin
  • Younger and healthier-looking skin
  • A reduction in pore size
  • Improved skin tone and texture
  • Smoother, softer skin

How deeply does a chemical peel penetrate?

It depends on the peel. The lightest peels are the most superficial, meaning they only work on the uppermost layers of the skin. There are also medium-depth and deep peels. Our York experts will be able to recommend the most appropriate one for you.

What’s the science behind facial peels?

Chemical peels trigger inflammation and wound response in the skin, which encourages cell renewal and stimulates collagen and elastin. The deeper the peel, the more dramatic the results can be – but the deepest peels also carry the greatest risk of side effects (such as infection) and recovery. However, chemical peels are a safe and effective treatment and have been carried out throughout history.

Where can I have a chemical peel?

We typically carry out our peels on the face, neck and collarbone area but can also offer them for the hands, the back and other areas. It depends on your needs.

Are chemical peels painful?

You may experience some redness and tenderness, as well as some gentle skin peeling after treatment. Our York experts provide complete aftercare information to help you manage and mitigate any side effects you might experience. For example, we recommend taking care of the sun while your skin is still sensitive and recovering.
