Ageing can appear in many ways and forms in our lifetime. In many clients, it might present as lines and wrinkles. In others, sagging and loss of volume are experienced. Thankfully, in almost every case (and providing you’re a suitable candidate), we can help. Our aesthetic clinic in York is here to help you get the most out of your skin and feel refreshed, youthful and glowing once again. Today, we’ll talk about one of our fantastic anti-ageing treatments: cheek fillers.

What are cheek fillers?

Cheek fillers are a way to use dermal fillers in a specific, targeted area of the face – the cheeks! It works by injecting hyaluronic acid into your skin. This naturally-occurring substance is both safe and effective, plumping your features and helping the skin retain moisture and an elasticky, bouncy appearance.

What can cheek fillers achieve?

Think smoother skin, a subtle lift, and beautiful shaping. By carefully considering injection points, cheek fillers in York can be used to contour your face to bring balance and symmetry, and restore lost volume. You can also have dermal fillers in other areas of your face to further boost results.

Do cheek fillers hurt?

No, in most cases they don’t, though everyone’s tolerance is different. We use a numbing agent to minimise discomfort here at our York aesthetic clinic, and we’ll also advise you on ways to prevent side effects that could cause discomfort afterwards.

What are the side effects of face fillers?

Like any type of dermal filler, or indeed injectable treatment, there are always risks and side effects. However, anything serious is extremely rare, and most of our clients only experience mild tenderness, swelling, redness or bruising. If you’re anxious or in any doubt, contact our experts straight away, as it’s better to be safe than sorry.

When will I see results from my cheek fillers?

You may see immediate improvement, but as some side effects are to be expected, symptoms like swelling may temporarily affect the appearance of the treated area. You should see ‘full’ results develop in the days following your treatment.

How long do cheek fillers last?

As with all dermal fillers, they are long-lasting, but not permanent. This means you can have top-ups when results fade, or even dissolve them if you’re unhappy with the effect. You can also target slightly different areas in the future for different outcomes. As a general rule, cheek fillers last between 12-18 months.
